High Rise: UltraPlastic Edition is live on Kickstarter!

Hello High Rise backer,

Just a quick message to let you know that High Rise: UltraPlastic Edition is up on Kickstarter now. Let's take this game to the next level!

Closing this campaign out… and the new one goes live next week!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 30, 2020 at 12:09:02 AM

We are just about wrapped for the High Rise base game Kickstarter. There's a handful of backers who encountered shipping exceptions - if that's you, I'm working to get you your game!

Other than the copies reserved for exceptions, the first edition is just about sold out. I believe the BGG shop still has a few copies, but those shouldn't last much longer. I think everyone else, myself included, are out of copies to sell.

Which means... it's time to do it all over again.

The High Rise: UltraPlastic edition campaign launches next week: Tuesday, October 6. I would love to have you back!

What is - and isn't - in the new campaign

The focus of the new campaign is the set of gorgeous new stackable plastic buildings designed by Daniel Newman, from Kwanchai Moriya's soaring art from the base game. There will also be brand new Tenants that give you new ways to score VP (and, of course, gain corruption), as well as an upgrade kit that includes replacement tiles and cards for the typos that snuck into the first edition printing.

There will be a pledge level for just the new stuff: the plastic buildings, new Tenants, and upgrade kit. There will also be a pledge level for both the base game and the new stuff, if you want to treat a friend.

I'd previously mentioned an expansion called The Suburbs. After a bunch of playtesting, it's become clear that The Suburbs doesn't want to be a small expansion that's part of a bigger campaign, but a large expansion that's the core of its own campaign. So I've decided to pull The Suburbs out of next week's campaign; it'll appear after the Plastic Edition has shipped.

Instead, I'll move some of the new Tenants I've been working on as part of The Suburbs into the UltraPlastic Edition. These Tenants are testing really nicely; I'll give more details on them as part of next week's campaign.

I hope you're as excited for this campaign as I am! In the High Rise base game campaign, we were able to bounce back from a rocky start to deliver a gorgeous game that earned critical praise. Let's make it even sweeter.

Join me for next week's launch!

We're coming back to Kickstarter!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Sep 10, 2020 at 04:27:03 PM

Hello, High Rise backer! The first print run of High Rise is almost sold out. We're returning to Kickstarter next month!

We will be back on Kickstarter on October 6 with a new Kickstarter! This campaign will fund four things:

First: A reprint of the base game. We'll take this opportunity to fix a few typos that snuck into the first printing.

Second: An update kit! I mentioned those typos above? This kit will let you early backers update your game so it's just as good as the new printing.

Third: An expansion! I'm playtesting it now. I can't fully announce what it's about or what it contains yet, but I will suggest that there's a song that runs through my head when I test it.

Fourth: Plastic!!! Maybe not the "ultra" kind, but we now have a chance to try to fund a version of the game with the stackable plastic bits we envisioned when we originally put the game on Kickstarter last January.

Pricing details will be announced soon.

Fulfillment wrapping up!
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 18, 2020 at 03:40:19 AM

Hello High Rise backer!

If you're reading this, chances are, you have already received your copy of High Rise, and hopefully you've played it! If you have not received it, you're probably one of a dozen or so exceptions I'm working through.

First off, thank you again for your support! We're coming to the end of this epic, and I'm really proud of what we accomplished.

This was the first campaign I've ever run that had people actively doubting us, but we've gone from barely hitting the funding goal six hours from the end of the campaign, to fulfillment wrapping up on a gorgeous game that's getting excellent reviews.

And it's all because of your support.

Like, if you haven't already seen Tom Vasel raving about the game:

There are many more reviews coming!

Some other news... If you'd like to play High Rise online, the Tabletopia version is available now. You can play it for free! I'm still working on a Tabletop Simulator version.

Next week is Virtual Gaming Con, a virtual convention (obviously) run by both BoardGameGeek and The Dice Tower. I'll be showing High Rise and The Rival Networks, both on Tabletopia. I hope to see you there!

Official FAQ and errata
almost 4 years ago – Tue, May 26, 2020 at 11:09:08 AM

Hello High Rise backer!

This is just a quick note that we have an official FAQ and errata up on BGG. Some of the component counts in the rulebook are off, because we changed them at the last moment. Even more embarrassingly, the Roman numerals on the front of the rulebook read "2014," but I'm going to go with the explanation that we put it in because that's the year Formal Ferret was founded. It's canonical now!

Can't wait to get those games out to remaining backers soon!
